Dr. Stephen Van Hedger is an Assistant Professor in Psychology at Huron University and a member of the Brain and Mind Institute at ·ÛºìÅ®ÀÉ. He received his Ph.D. from the University of Chicago and completed postdoctoral training both at the University of Chicago and at ·ÛºìÅ®ÀÉ. His research focuses on principles of learning, memory, and pattern recognition. The way in which he integrates these areas of research is through the study of perceptual expertise – specifically, how it develops and is how it is maintained. Specific topics of research include absolute pitch, statistical learning in speech and music, and degraded speech understanding.
