Biography: Lauren is completing her MCISc/PhD in Speech-Language Pathology and Health and Rehabilitation Sciences. She completed her Bachelor of Arts Honours in Speech Sciences with a Minor in Commerce at the University of British Columbia. For her doctoral thesis, Lauren is conducting a series of practice-based research projects with speech-language pathologists and parents to develop a practical and sustainable model for family-centered, language-based interventions for preschool aged children with autism.

Biography: Alyssa is completing a MCISc/PhD in Speech-Language Pathology and Health and Rehabilitation Sciences. She previously completed her HBSc in Life Sciences with a minor in Linguistics at McMaster University and MSc in Health and Rehabilitation Science (Speech and Language Science) at ·ÛºìÅ®ÀÉ. For her doctoral thesis, Alyssa is using EEG to explore the relationship between neurological response to sound and language proficiency in children aged 1-5 years.

Biography: Vipula is a PhD candidate in Health and Rehabilitation Sciences (Speech and Language Science) under the co-supervision of Drs. Janis Oram and Amanda Binns. She completed her bachelor's and masters in Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology in Sri Ramachandra Institute of Higher Education and Research, India. She has experience in working in a special school and a multi-disciplinary paediatric clinic that aims to improve the communication skills of children. For her doctoral thesis, Vipula is evaluating the effectiveness of a community delivered social communication training program for families of autistic preschool children.

Jessica Holmes, HBSc

MClSc/PhD candidate

Biography: Jessica is completing a MCISc/PhD in Speech-Language Pathology and Health & Rehabilitation Sciences under the co-supervision of Drs. Janis Oram and David Purcell. She completed her HBSc in Chemistry with a Minor in Linguistics at the University of Ottawa. For her doctoral thesis, Jessica is studying the relationship between auditory feedback and the development of speech motor control in children.
