About Our Program


The MScFN program equips aspiring dietitians and nutrition leaders with advanced training and credentials recognized across Canada.

This degree offers a choice of two curriculum options: project-based and course-based. Both pathways provide students with a combination of advanced-level coursework and practical training, including experiential learning placements across southwestern Ontario.

Accredited Program

Graduates of the MScFN Practicum programs complete a practicum recognized by , preparing you to write the (CDRE) - your gateway to becoming a Registered Dietitian in Canada.

Admission Requirements

Applicants to the MScFN with practicum programs (course-based and project-based) must meet the admissions criteria of ·ÛºìÅ®ÀÉ’s School of Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies and the Brescia School of Food & Nutritional Sciences program requirements.

International Applicants

Internationally educated applicants must meet the admissions criteria of ·ÛºìÅ®ÀÉ’s School of Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies and the Brescia School of Food & Nutritional Sciences program requirements. In addition to the general requirements, applicants should review the information specific to the international pathway.

Indigenous Applicants

The Brescia School of Food and Nutritional Sciences is dedicated to enhancing the well-being of First Nation, Inuit, and Métis People in Canada. To encourage more Indigenous individuals to consider a career in dietetics, we have created a pathway to increase enrollment into the Master of Science in Foods and Nutrition (MScFN) Program.

Program Structure


Project-Based MScFN with Practicum (5 Terms)

Duration: 20 months. Students are enrolled full-time during all 5 academic terms. The program starts in September.

Application deadline: January 12 - Fall Term

The project-based MScFN with practicum program provides students with advanced research opportunities, course work, and practical training experiences with placements across southwestern Ontario and beyond.

Course-Based MScFN with Practicum (3 Terms)

Duration: 12 months. Students are enrolled full-time during all 3 academic terms (Fall, Winter and Summer). The program starts in September.

Application deadline: January 12 - Fall Term

The course-based MScFN with practicum program offers students online graduate level courses and in-person practical dietetic training experiences with placements across southwestern Ontario and beyond.
